End of the summer vegetables...especially tomatoes, can be some of the finest of the season.
These are big, beautiful beefsteak tomatoes that are delicious on their own with a bit of olive oil, salt and pepper....or my Crazy Good Dressing. Wonderful accompaniment to any main meat or fish entrée.
Have been "jarring" roasted peppers to enjoy this winter as well. I'll use these in sauces, salads - on sandwiches, steaks......so pretty and so delicious! #peppers #gardenrecipes
Just potted this succulent in full sun on our deck. Beautiful and fairly easy to care for as they love sunshine. #succulents #planters
Ceviche is an easy low fat appetizer or entree. Try it today. Find the recipe here.
I grow a lot of green onions and use them in my recipes. If you grow green onions, you use them in many, many dishes - and you see how pretty they are in bloom. But do you know the beautiful purple blooms are edible? I top potato salad and other salads with the blooms - it's a visual treat - and tasty too. I will post a photo of a dish topped with the green onion flowers soon.
Of course the weeds are out in full force as well. Time to make my organic weed killer. This is best for walkways/driveways as it will kill all vegetation it come in contact with. Ingredients:
1 gallon distilled vinegar
1 cup salt
1 TB dish soap
Heat in large pot until salt is dissolved. Set aside until cool, pour into your weed sprayer and spray away!
Last year during the flurry of planting, moving and re-moving clay pots, a few broke.....big surprise, right? As things like this happen, I decided to use the broken pots in my gardens.....instant garden art! They look good and plants will wind themselves over and around, creating a terrific visual.
I'll continue to post during the summer and you can check it out.
